Time is an
ingredient.
Every bar we make air-cures for six to ten weeks in open air. Select bars rest for as long as two years. It is the slowest thing we do, and it is the reason the soap behaves the way it does in your hand.
Poured and cut
Day one - The oils are stirred by hand, poured into a mold, and cut into bars by hand. At this point, the bar is soft, wet, and unfinished. Nothing about it is ready to leave the workshop.
Saponification completes
Weeks one to two
During the first two weeks, saponification completes. Oil and lye finish becoming soap on their own. We add nothing and we take nothing away. The bar simply becomes what it is going to be.
The standard cure
Weeks six to ten
Every bar we make undergoes a natural air cure of six to ten weeks. Water leaves the bar slowly, in open air, at its own pace. This is the part that cannot be hurried and the part almost nobody ever sees.
